Overseas Rescue Dog Preparation
Helping owners prepare for the arrival of their rescue dog - covering Surrey, West Sussex & Kent.

Prevention is better than cure
All too often, I hear from new owners of overseas rescue dogs after things have started to unravel. At first, everything seemed fine, just a few quirks here and there. But then came the growling, the barking & the tension. Before long, their dog’s behaviour was no longer simply “quirky”, it was concerning, even overwhelming.
The sad fact is that a lot of these issues could be prevented.
If owners were given the right information & guidance prior to their dogs arrival - specifically what makes (most) overseas rescue dogs unique, what they need to feel safe & most importantly what not to do.
That’s where ‘Before Your Rescue Arrives’ comes in. This consultation is built on years of hands-on experience helping owners unpick problems that didn’t need to happen.

"We chose Anthony for 1-1 training for our Romanian rescue puppy, Lola. We were first time dog owners and Anthony's calm and no-nonsense approach was really great for helping us through the anxieties which come with that. Anthony had some great suggestions on how to reconfigure our house to help Lola settle into life with 2 slightly timid cats, and his advice on toilet training was a godsend!
Lola's gone from a timid dog who wouldn't go into the garden, let alone a walk, to a happy, confident dog."

Unfortunately, no one can guarantee a completely smooth transition when it comes to an overseas rescue dog but there is a lot we can do to reduce the chances of behavioural issues from occurring later down the road.
What I can guarantee is a proactive, structured approach with guidance based on years of experience to help you avoid common pitfalls and support your rescue confidently.
All the methods and recommendations suggested in rescue preparation are force-free and take into account the unique behaviour that comes with an overseas rescue dog.
The package includes a two-hour in-person session (or online), access to the Rescue Preparation Learning Hub, and ongoing support via email and WhatsApp.
The learning hub is where you can access all the learning material from our session along with a couple of additional guides and access a few special discounts.
Yes! Rescue preparation can be carried out online. Just drop me a message if you are outside my service area.
Then you’re in luck! I offer two specific programmes for overseas rescue dogs;
Settling In: This is a 1:1 programme designed to give owners support and guidance when it comes to helping their rescue adjust to their new life and navigate any challenges that may arise, without having to wing it.
Back on Track: Sometimes things go wrong and owners need help understanding their rescue’s behaviour. This programme is for owners who already have their rescue dog and need help resolving behavioural issues.
People who purchase Rescue Preparation get a special discount on both of the above programmes - this is available in the learning hub.
