1:1 Adolescent Dog Training
Adolescent Dog Training in Redhill
1:1 training and support for dogs aged 6–24 months, designed to help you get through adolescence without losing your sanity. Covering Surrey, West Sussex & parts of Kent.

What happened to your puppy?
If you’re on this page, you’re probably asking yourself that question. One minute your puppy was sweet, attentive & obedient. The next they’re ignoring you, acting like they don’t know the word sit & generally just being a bit of a dick. If your dog is between 6–24 months (depending on their size)…welcome to adolescence!
Dealing with a teenage dog is stressful. But it’s no picnic for them either. Growth spurts, hormones, brain rewiring & sexual maturity all hit at once, the perfect storm for chaos.
This is also when the tricky behaviours show up. Pulling on the lead, ignoring recall, jumping up or suddenly “forgetting” their training. Sound familiar?
That’s where my Terrible Teenager Program comes in. It's designed to help you understand the reason(s) for your dog's behaviour, how to prevent it getting worse & most importantly, how to navigate through this challenging time.

"I would highly recommend Anthony to anyone!"
"We reached out to Anthony about our 8 month Lab, Poppy, back in July. He has since helped us hugely with a few issues, including her barking and recall. Anthony is so knowledgeable, friendly and approachable - he has gone above and beyond to help us and given us the confidence to raise a good pup."

Frequently Asked Questions
Adolescent training is for owners who are wondering “what the hell happened to my puppy?”
One minute they were listening, training was going well, and life felt manageable. The next, it feels like everything has fallen apart — recall has disappeared, manners have gone out the window, and behaviours you thought were resolved are suddenly back (or worse).
This programme is designed for owners of adolescent dogs who want clear guidance, realistic expectations, and structured support during this tricky developmental stage. It’s ideal if you’re feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or unsure whether what you’re seeing is “normal teenage behaviour” or something that needs addressing.
All training is specific to you and your dog’s needs but in general, typical adolescent behaviour that requires help is impulse control, recall, pulling on the lead, jumping up, frustration and issues with greeting people and dogs.
Puppy training is all about laying the foundations of the dog, adolescent training is where the dog is built. It’s during this phase that dogs learn what works, what they enjoy and any unwanted behaviours are formed.
Adolescent training focuses on preventing unwanted behaviours getting worse, addressing the underlying causes and dealing with any new behaviours that arise as your dog grows.
All the training methods and advice given is force-free and positive reinforcement based.
I focus on understanding the root causes of your adolescent dog's behaviour and implementing changes that are designed to prevent issues becoming worse and achieving behaviour change that sticks once your dog matures.
Should you need additional sessions, you can purchase these via your online learning hub.
Adolescence typically begins around 5–6 months of age and can last until around 18–24 months, depending on breed and size.
Larger breeds often take longer to mature, which means adolescent behaviours can last a little longer too.
If you’re unsure which type of support is right for you, a free discovery call is the best place to start.
We’ll talk through what’s going on with your dog and I’ll help you decide whether adolescent training is the right fit, or whether a behaviour programme would be more appropriate.
Honestly, it depends.
Adolescence is a complex developmental stage and how things look at the end of the programme will depend on several factors, including your dog’s age, their individual maturity, breed, and what’s happening for them developmentally at the time. Hormonal changes, increased independence, fear periods, synaptic pruning, and social maturity all play a role — and these don’t follow a neat or predictable timeline.
Because of this, no ethical trainer or behaviourist can promise to “fix” an adolescent dog.
What I can promise is that by the end of the programme, most owners feel far more in control, understand their dog better, and know exactly what to do next — rather than feeling stuck, frustrated, or constantly firefighting behaviour.
Think of it as guiding your dog through adolescence properly, not rushing them through it.
